Visitors
to the Pennsylvania Maple Festival won't want to miss the Model Railroad
Exhibit at the newly restored Western Maryland Station. The station
is located at the very top of Main Street. Visitors must cross over
the current CSX Rail Line and walk up a slight incline for 2 blocks.
The
model railroad exhibit will be open to the public, free of charge,
during the regular festival days (March 24-25& March 30 - April
1) and hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Visitors will see several different
layouts featuring scenes depicted from the Meyersdale area. The model
train show is sponsored by the Meyersdale Area Historical Society.
Take time to talk to our model railroaders and share stories. There's
plenty of rail history at the station too, so take time to see it
all.
Meyersdale
has a rich rail history. It is located along the CSX mail line between
Pittsburgh and Cumberland, Maryland. Meyersdale also had the Western
Maryland Railway line.
Rail
buffs from all over come to Meyersdale to see the Salisbury Via Duct,
the Keystone Via Duct, Sand Patch, the Sand Patch Tunnel, The Savage
tunnel, and of course, the restored Western Maryland Railway Station.
Many train buffs come to Meyersdale to enjoy the spectacular scenery
and mountainous terrain.
